“As It Was in the Days of Noah”
Words of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Himself said the end of the age would mirror the world before the Flood. If that is true, then understanding the last days requires understanding the days of Noah — and Enoch is our primary witness to that world.
⸻
Jesus Points Us Back to Noah
Gospel of Matthew 24:37 (KJV)
“But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”
Jesus does not explain this statement.
He assumes His audience understands what the days of Noah were like.
That raises the question:
What exactly characterized that world?
⸻
Genesis Gives the Outline
Genesis 6:5 (KJV)
“And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”
Genesis tells us:
• Humanity was corrupt
• Violence filled the earth
• Judgment was inevitable
But Genesis gives the summary, not the full detail.
⸻
Enoch Gives the Missing Detail
This is where 1 Enoch becomes essential.
Enoch lived before the Flood, walked with God, and recorded:
• Angelic rebellion
• Corruption of humanity
• Forbidden knowledge
• Giants and violence
• Divine judgment
Enoch does not contradict Genesis —
he expands it.
⸻
Enoch Explains Why the Flood Was Necessary
According to Enoch:
• Heavenly beings transgressed
• Humanity was taught destructive knowledge
• The earth was defiled
• Flesh itself became corrupted
This explains why the judgment was global, not local.
The problem was not merely moral failure — it was total corruption.
⸻
From Genesis to Revelation
Revelation mirrors Genesis:
• Angelic rebellion
• Hybrid deception
• Global corruption
• Final judgment
This is why the Bible ends the way it does.
To understand Revelation, we must understand Genesis.
To understand Genesis, we must listen to Enoch.
⸻
Why Enoch Matters for the End Times
Jesus said the last days would repeat the pattern.
If the pattern included:
• Corrupt humanity
• Deception
• Transgression of boundaries
• Judgment by God
Then ignoring Enoch leaves us blind to what Jesus warned us about.
⸻
Enoch Is the Best Source on the Pre-Flood World
Outside of Genesis itself:
• Enoch is the only detailed eyewitness record
• Written by a man who lived before the Flood
• Affirmed by Jude
• Aligned with Jesus’ warnings
If Jesus pointed us to Noah,
and Enoch explains Noah’s world,
then rejecting Enoch weakens our understanding of the end.
⸻
Summary
• Jesus said the end will mirror the days of Noah
• Genesis gives the outline
• Enoch gives the explanation
• Revelation completes the pattern
The Bible begins with corruption.
It ends with judgment.
Enoch explains why.
