Enoch Prophesied the Messiah
Enoch does not merely echo New Testament theology, he anticipates Christ directly. His visions describe a Lamb who becomes a Man, a Lamb with horns and authority, and a pre-existent Son of Man — all later claimed and fulfilled by Jesus.
⸻
Prophecy #1 — The Lamb Who Becomes a Man
1 Enoch 89:34
(R. H. Charles Translation, 1917 — Animal Apocalypse)
“And I saw till that sheep became a man, and built a house for the Lord of the sheep…”
This is one of the clearest messianic statements in all of extra-biblical Jewish literature.
Enoch does not say:
• the sheep represents a man
• or symbolizes humanity
He says the sheep became a man.
Now compare this with:
Gospel of John 1:29 (KJV)
“Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”
John identifies Jesus as the Lamb.
Enoch prophesies that the Lamb becomes a Man.
Together, they form a complete Christological picture.
⸻
Prophecy #2 — The Lamb with Horns and Authority
1 Enoch 90:38
(R. H. Charles Translation, 1917)
“And the first among them became a lamb, and that lamb became a great animal and had great black horns on its head; and the Lord of the sheep rejoiced over it…”
In biblical symbolism, horns represent power, kingship, and authority.
Now compare this with John’s vision:
Book of Revelation 5:6 (KJV)
“And I beheld… a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.”
Enoch sees:
• A Lamb
• Exalted above others
• With horns of authority
• Rejoiced over by the Lord
Revelation confirms:
• The Lamb is slain
• The Lamb reigns
• The Lamb possesses divine authority
The imagery is not borrowed randomly — it is inherited.
⸻
Prophecy #3 — The Pre-Existent Son of Man
1 Enoch 48:2–3
(R. H. Charles Translation, 1917)
“And at that hour that Son of Man was named
In the presence of the Lord of Spirits…
Before the sun and the signs were created,
Before the stars of heaven were made…”
Now compare Christ’s own testimony:
Gospel of Mark 14:62 (KJV)
“And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.”
Jesus does not redefine the title — He claims the Enochian one.
⸻
Adam Was Promised a Redeemer
The knowledge of Christ did not begin with Enoch.
Genesis 3:15 (KJV)
“It shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
Adam was promised:
• A future seed
• A redeemer
• A victory over evil
Redemption was known from the garden.
⸻
Christ Is God — From the Beginning
Jesus openly affirmed His divinity:
Gospel of John 10:30 (KJV)
“I and my Father are one.”
And long before the Gospels:
Proverbs 30:4 (KJV)
“What is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?”
The Son (Son of Man) is not a later Christian invention, He is embedded in ancient texts that pre dates the New Testament writings.
⸻
Did Enoch Know Christ?
When we follow the chain of revelation:
• Adam knew a Redeemer was coming
• Enoch walked with God
• Enoch saw a Lamb become a Man
• Enoch saw the Son of Man before creation
• Jesus claimed that title openly
The conclusion is unavoidable:
Enoch knew Christ — by revelation, not hindsight.
